Taebaeksan Snow Festival & Yongyeon Cave

We went to yet another winter festival this weekend, Taebaeksan Snow Festival. We had originally planned a weekend trip but it has been so cold lately that I knew I couldn’t handle it, especially after the ice fishing festival, so we opted for a day trip on Saturday instead. It was cold, the bus ride was long (four hours each way), and the festival was scaled down due to the foot-and-mouth disease outbreak. But we met some cool people and had fun!

Basically all they had going on at the festival were the massive and amazing snow sculptures.

There was also an igloo cafe, which was pretty cool as well.

And a temple… boring! 😉

After seeing all the sculptures, we had the option to hike or go to Yongyeon Cave. Guess which one I chose? 🙂 The cave wasn’t that impressive but it was nice to get out of the cold! Parts of the cave were really low so I was glad we had to wear helmets; I did bump my head a few times!

Eye of the Tigon lost by one measly point. Third time’s the charm.

Weird Korea Part 3:
Koreans love to mess with my favorite foods. The worst offense is pizza. The pizza itself is not that bad, except when they add corn. It really ruins the cheesy deliciousness. They also always serve pizza with a side of sweet pickles. Koreans have told me they think that is what we do in America. Where did they get that idea?!?

Oh yeah, I got a sweet new hat and a sweet new pillow today!
